Lexington, Kentucky – Communities across Kentucky are gearing up to celebrate the Fourth of July with festive fireworks shows and various activities, drawing families and friends together for this national holiday. Several options for viewing fireworks will be available in the WKYT area, making it easy for residents to partake in the festivities.

In Lexington, the main fireworks display will launch from R. J. Corman’s railyard located at the corner of Oliver Lewis Way and West Main Street. The show is scheduled for 10 p.m. on July 4th and is expected to last approximately 25 minutes. In the event of light rain, the fireworks display will continue as planned; however, should high winds occur, it may be postponed to July 5th at 10 p.m.

The Fourth of July celebrations in Richmond will take place at Lake Reba Park, running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The city’s parade is set to begin at 11 a.m., traveling along Main Street, while the fireworks in Richmond will begin after dusk at Brooking Park.

In Nicholasville, fireworks are scheduled to take place at R.J. Corman’s headquarters from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., providing another viewing option for residents in the area. Additionally, Frankfort’s VFW Post 4075 will commemorate its 67th annual fireworks event from Capital View Park at around 9:45 p.m.

On July 3rd, the Lexington County Blowfish baseball team added to the Independence Day celebration by hosting a fireworks show after their game against the Boone Bigfoots, which ended in a 12-8 victory. The team will play again at home against the Glowfish on July 4th, starting at 7:05 p.m., which will be followed by yet another fireworks display.

Lexington’s Fourth of July events also feature the annual Bluegrass 10K and Fun Run, commencing at 7:30 a.m. Road closures began early at 5 a.m. for this event, and Main Street will close starting at noon for the Fourth of July parade, allowing for preparations along the parade route from Midland Avenue to Mill Street.

Throughout the day in Lexington, residents can enjoy live music and activities set up at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza and Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park. Police have indicated that some road closures will likely remain in place until approximately 10:30 p.m. for cleanup in the aftermath of the fireworks.

This year’s Fourth of July holiday falls on a Friday, July 4th, providing an extended weekend for celebrations.
