Lexington, Kentucky – Local graphic artist Logan Fox has significantly expanded his music design portfolio through his partnership with bluegrass musician Billy Strings. This collaboration began in the spring of 2023 after Strings’ management approached Fox for social media advertising related to the upcoming Renewal Festival set for 2024. Since that initial project, Fox has taken on a variety of new responsibilities that highlight his versatility and creative talent within the music industry.
The collaboration between Fox and Strings has rapidly grown to encompass numerous design projects. Notable undertakings include creating merchandise for both the Renewal Festival and Strings’ fall and winter 2024 tours, as well as promotional materials for Strings’ latest album, “Highway Prayers”. Fox’s designs will also feature on posters for Strings’ upcoming tour in Australia and New Zealand, in addition to preparations for the artist’s spring 2025 U.S. tour, which includes performances at Rupp Arena in Lexington on June 20 and 21, 2025.
Fox has expressed appreciation for his working relationship with Billy Strings and the support he has received from the artist’s team. This collaboration is characterized by a sense of mutual respect, which has enhanced the working dynamic. With each project, they have been able to develop new ideas and push creative boundaries within the realm of music design.
Logan Fox grew up in a family of bluegrass musicians, which fostered his own musical interests and aesthetic sensibilities. He transitioned to graphic design in 2014, initially creating gig posters and merchandise for himself and local artists, such as Bendigo Fletcher and Abby Hamilton. As he gained experience, he secured commercial projects that allowed him to pursue a full-time career in design starting in 2019. This transition marked a significant turning point, allowing him to explore more diverse opportunities.
In addition to his work with musicians, Fox has collaborated with various businesses, including Great Bagel and The Press Juice Bar. His creative scope extends to designing merchandise for popular films, with unique shirt designs for “Robocop” and “Cocaine Bear” further showcasing his skill in creating engaging visuals that captivate diverse audiences.
Fox’s design style draws heavily from vintage print advertisements and the influential work of artist Robert Beatty. He cites Beatty’s accomplishments as inspiration, aspiring to achieve similar recognition in Lexington’s art and music scenes. Despite the challenges of making a living as an artist, Fox feels gratitude for the journey he has undertaken in his creative career, especially as it has allowed him to support his family.
Fox finds motivation in reflecting on the alternative paths his life could have taken if he had not pursued his passion for design. His commitment to creating meaningful artwork continues to drive him as he explores new opportunities within the music industry and beyond. Through collaboration with artists and businesses, Fox is establishing himself as a prominent figure in graphic design, particularly within the vibrant music scene of Lexington.
