Louisville, Kentucky—Bluegrass Realtors celebrated its most outstanding members at the annual Installation Luncheon and Member Recognition Meeting. This event is a shining beacon in the real estate calendar, where the community comes together to honor those who have made significant contributions to the industry over the past year.

Realtor of the Year Announcement

The spotlight of the event was undoubtedly on Kelley Nisbet, who was awarded the prestigious title of Realtor of the Year for 2024. With a wealth of experience as a second-generation Realtor since 1996, Kelley has made a name for herself as the broker and owner of Coldwell Banker McMahan. Her journey in the industry has seen her take on numerous leadership roles, including her term as president of the association in 2023, along with responsibilities as treasurer and director.

Throughout her distinguished career, Kelley has contributed to various committees within the Bluegrass Realtors, covering areas like government affairs, professional standards, and finance. She doesn’t just stop at local engagement; Kelley has also taken her talents to the state and national stage as a State Trustee for the Realtor Political Action Committee. A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Finance and Economics, Kelley’s dedication and commitment have not gone unnoticed in the industry.

Celebrating Community Involvement

Another highlight of the day was the presentation of the Good Neighbor Award to Christy Helton, an agent with Christie’s International Real Estate Bluegrass. For over a dozen years, Christy has been a tireless volunteer with BIA Cares, even taking on the role of board chair. Her leadership in this organization has led to the successful completion of various service projects that have made a real difference in the lives of many.

This past year alone, Christy went above and beyond, raising almost $100,000 to assist with significant home remodels for vulnerable populations. Her efforts focus on helping individuals with disabilities and low-income families find safe and comfortable living conditions. Moreover, she has broadened her outreach by becoming a director with the Realtor Community Housing Foundation, further nurturing her passion for community service.

Acknowledging Team Efforts

The event also honored three remarkable individuals who took home the President’s Award for their exceptional service to Bluegrass Realtors and the real estate field in the past year. The awardees included Tommy Black, an agent with RE/MAX On Main, Inc; Katrina Bowers, COO of Bluegrass Realtors; and Greg Buchanan, broker of ERA Select Real Estate. Each of them has demonstrated unwavering commitment and has made notable contributions to the association and its members.
