Contributions of Charles Hiser

Charles Hiser was a dedicated farmer who raised a diverse range of livestock, including cattle, sheep, pigs, dairy cows, and chickens. He also cultivated various crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, and oats. Hiser, who passed away in 1991, contributed significantly to the local farming community.

Bessie Hiser’s Legacy

Bessie Hiser also made a profound impact on agriculture in Fayette County. Transitioning from city life to the farm after marrying Charles, she became deeply involved in both the family farming operations and community service initiatives. Bessie remained active in these areas until her death in 2016. Together, the Hisers raised five children, instilling in them the values of hard work and civic responsibility.

Tracy Dendinger’s Influence

Tracy Dendinger has been an integral part of Fayette County’s agricultural community for over 31 years. Serving as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Miami Trace High School for more than 20 years, she has guided her students to achieve an impressive 158 state and 51 American FFA degrees, along with numerous awards.

Beyond her teaching role, Dendinger has held various leadership positions, including state agriculture education program consultant, state supervisor for district agricultural education, and as an adjunct professor at Ohio State University and Wilmington College. Her involvement extends to judging livestock exhibitions at national and state fairs, such as the North American International Livestock Exposition and the Arizona National.

Youth Engagement and Community Initiatives

Dendinger is also active in programs like Champion’s Choice Camps, which focus on educating and mentoring youth in animal showmanship across the country. Her commitment to local initiatives includes participation in the Fayette County Junior Fair, the Scarecrow Festival Ag Literacy Tent, and the Paint the Town Pink Campaign.

Recognition of Legacy

The upcoming induction serves not only to recognize the achievements of the Hisers and Dendinger but also to honor the legacy they have left on the agricultural community in Fayette County. Each inductee’s contributions continue to resonate within their community, shaping the future of agriculture and inspiring new generations.
