This chain reaction caused the Silverado to collide with the rear of a 2021 Freightliner CMV operated by Justin Hill.

As a result of the crash, Rico Brown sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital for treatment. However, a juvenile passenger in the Silverado, identified as 16-year-old Tristan Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a devastating loss for the Berea community.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) are leading the investigation into the crash, working to determine the factors that led to this tragic event.
