Three Arrested in Connection with Lexington Barbershop Homicide

In a stunning turn of events, Lexington is buzzing with news surrounding the recent arrest of three individuals tied to a chilling homicide at a local barbershop. The incident has raised eyebrows in the community, as details continue to unfold about what really happened on that fateful day.

The drama began when police made a breakthrough in their investigation into the tragic death of 35-year-old Gregory Williams, who was found with a gunshot wound at the Exotic Cutzz Barbershop on Chinoe Road on November 30, 2024. Unfortunately, despite all efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The prime suspect, Jeremiah Mitchell, a 20-year-old man, was apprehended by the US Marshals Service just five days before further arrests were made. Mitchell is facing serious charges, including murder, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and second-degree criminal mischief. He is currently in Wayne County, Michigan, awaiting extradition back to Fayette County.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Alexis Compton was arrested just recently, on Wednesday, and is being charged with complicity to murder. On top of that, she faces additional unrelated charges concerning drug trafficking, which adds another curveball to this already tangled story. Compton’s bond has been set at a whopping $500,000 for the murder-related charge and $20,000 for trafficking methamphetamine.

The third suspect, identified as 22-year-old Yas-Ree Collins, was also taken into custody on December 6, 2024, by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Collins has been charged with complicity to murder and is also waiting to be extradited back to Fayette County from Warren County, Ohio. Just like Compton and Mitchell, Collins was also listed among the most wanted individuals by Bluegrass Crime Stoppers prior to their arrests.

What transpired in the barbershop that day is chilling. Surveillance footage obtained by police reveals Williams sleeping near the front door moments before the shooting. Astonishingly, the footage shows Williams even engaged in a conversation with the alleged shooter before being shot in the back. This shockingly cold act had the entire barbershop community in disbelief.

After the erroneous shot was fired, the unknown assailant fled in a Kia SUV that was driven by Compton, who was reportedly already inside the barbershop prior to the incident. Collins was caught on camera driving away in a second vehicle, a Kia K5, where she was shown handing a firearm to the shooter. It raises quite a few questions about the events that led to such violence among the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Driven by a strong desire to seek justice, local law enforcement utilized their real-time intelligence center to piece together the puzzle and identify all three suspects. As the investigation dives deeper, Lexington residents are left eager for clarification and closure in this disturbing case.

As for compton, she is set to face a court appearance in Fayette District Court this Thursday. With an entire community on edge, it’s a case that’s undoubtedly going to be monitored closely by everyone, from law enforcement to everyday Lexington folks looking for answers in a world that often seems unpredictable.

In this day and age, who would have thought that a simple trip to the barbershop could lead to such a catastrophic event? As every detail unfolds, the residents of Lexington remain hopeful that justice will be served effectively.
