Lexington – The highly anticipated Lexington Craft Beer Week is set to take place from May 9 to May 18, bringing together local breweries and restaurants for a celebration of craft beer unlike any other. The event will feature a variety of activities, including tap takeovers, tasting events, giveaways, and more, showcasing the vibrant craft beer scene in the area.
Seven local breweries are actively participating in the week-long festivities: Blue Stallion Brewing, Country Boy Brewing, Ethereal Brewing, Lexington Brewing & Distilling, Mirror Twin Brewing, West Sixth Brewing, and Wisebird Cider. Beginning on May 9, these breweries will unveil several special beer releases that cater to different tastes.
On the opening day, attendees can look forward to four exciting new beers across various locations. West Sixth Brewing and Country Boy Brewing will serve the Country Western Vol. 13: Baker’s Dozen, a donut-inspired stout packed with chocolate and raspberry flavors, starting at 11 a.m. Blue Stallion Brewing will release a classic Bock Sabboth, a Maibock also available from 11 a.m. Furthermore, Ethereal Brewing, in collaboration with Trellis Brewing and The Void Sake Company, will introduce Paddy Cakes, a rice lager crafted with Carolina Gold paddy rice. Last but not least, settle in for Liquid Swords 2, a robust 9% ABV New Zealand IPA launched as a partnership with Burl Brew at Mirror Twin Brewing.
Throughout the week, more than 13 additional craft beer releases are lined up at various breweries, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere. Notable among planned collaborations is the Boom Hive, a honeycomb ice cream sour created in partnership with Crank and Boom Ice Cream, set for release at 11 a.m. on May 16 at Mirror Twin’s National Avenue taproom.
In addition to special beer releases, the celebration will include various engaging events such as trivia nights, vintage art markets, beer battles, and tap takeovers. Local restaurants, including Boonedogs and Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint, will participate by offering unique food specials and tailored events that complement the beer offerings.
A unique aspect of this year’s Craft Beer Week is the Jefferson Jaunt bar hop. Participants can collect stamps on a special passport by visiting five designated locations on Jefferson Street, which, upon completion, will earn them a prize, promoting not only the breweries but also local businesses in the area.
The week of festivities will culminate in Country Boy Brewing’s ninth annual Beer Cheese Contest, taking place from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 18 at 108 Corporate Blvd. in Georgetown.
