Lexington, KY – Memorial Day is approaching, and local grocery and liquor stores in Lexington have announced their hours of operation for the holiday. As Memorial Day signals the unofficial start of summer and encourages family gatherings, many residents are preparing for their shopping needs.

The only Publix location in Lexington will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Memorial Day; however, its pharmacy will remain closed for the holiday. In contrast, Costco Wholesale will close all of its warehouses on Memorial Day, and Good Foods Grocery in Lexington will also be closed.

For those looking to shop at major retailers, Walmart will operate during its normal hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Meanwhile, Sam’s Club has set its hours for Plus members from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and for Club members from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Trader Joe’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Memorial Day.

Meijer will welcome customers with extended hours from 6 a.m. to midnight, along with an open pharmacy. In addition, Kroger will be open on Memorial Day; however, its pharmacy will close early at 3 p.m. Target will also be open, but customers are encouraged to check ahead for potential variations in hours.

Aldi will operate on a limited schedule, and customers should refer to their website for specific hours. Total Wine & More will operate from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., while Liquor Barn will remain open during its normal hours on the holiday.

Residents need to be mindful of banking services, as all major banks will be closed on Memorial Day, meaning no banking services will be available. Additionally, post offices and FedEx services will also be closed, and UPS pick-up and delivery will be suspended for the day. However, some UPS stores may still be open.

In terms of waste management, Lexington’s city trash pickup will be suspended on Memorial Day. Residents and businesses should have their trash carts at the curb by Tuesday for an alternate pickup on Wednesday, May 28. It is important to note that the waste management facility and recycling centers will also be closed on Memorial Day.

As Memorial Day approaches, residents have a variety of options for shopping and need to plan ahead to ensure they can get their errands completed in time for the holiday weekend.
