The Lexington Police Department is probing a recent homicide after a man was shot and killed on Nicholasville Road on the evening of May 28. Officers received reports of gunfire in the 3800 block of Nicholasville Road at around 5:20 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead on the scene. Currently, there are no details available concerning any suspects involved in this incident.
Detectives are appealing to the public for assistance, asking anyone who may have records from cameras in the vicinity to check their footage for potential evidence that could aid in the ongoing investigation. The shooting case is still unfolding, and individuals with any information are urged to contact the Lexington Police at 859-258-3600 or provide anonymous tips to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or online. As the investigation remains active, authorities advise residents to avoid the area if possible. A noticeable police presence and the Fayette County Coroner were also observed at the Bridle Creek Apartments on Nicholasville Road.
In a separate and concerning situation, a woman has been charged with murder following another shooting on Newtown Pike that occurred on Friday morning. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Elmer Joseph Eldridge, was discovered with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead later after being transported to the hospital. The accused, 40-year-old Mia White, has been arrested and is currently held at the Fayette County Detention Center facing charges of murder in a domestic violence case.
Another tragic shooting incident took place early Tuesday in the 700 block of Rambling Creek Drive, where 16-year-old Arsenio Jackson Jr. was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m. Jackson was a junior at Henry Clay High School, and his death is also being investigated as a homicide, further highlighting the distressing trend of youth violence in Lexington. In addition, a shooting incident on Ohio Street resulted in the death of a male victim later identified as 24-year-old Tai’Maricus Warner, who was declared dead at the scene. As with previous incidents, police have not released suspect information and continue to encourage residents to review their surveillance footage for any potential leads.
According to reports, the city of Lexington has witnessed a total of five homicides this year, indicating an increase compared to just two homicides at the same time in the previous year. Remarkably, three of these homicides have occurred within the past week alone, pointing towards a troubling uptick in violence within the community.
