Lexington, KY – Multiple stabbings in Lexington and Albany have resulted in critical injuries and arrests, sparking a significant police investigation. Authorities were first alerted to incidents around 5 a.m. on Saturday, with one victim suffering minor injuries and another sustaining life-threatening wounds.

Lexington police arrived at the Bryan Station Inn early Saturday morning following reports of a stabbing. At the scene, officers found a woman who had suffered minor injuries; an assault report was subsequently filed by investigators. Meanwhile, police in Albany were responding to a separate stabbing report near Lexington Avenue and First Street, where initial responders found no victim present but did discover evidence related to the incident.

Shortly after, a stabbing victim arrived at Albany Memorial Hospital, displaying significant injuries to her neck and back. This individual was later transferred to Albany Medical Center, where she is currently listed in critical condition. In connection with this stabbing, police apprehended 38-year-old Kinyetta Gordon at Albany Medical Center, where she was receiving treatment for a cut to her hand. Gordon has since been charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon and is now held in Albany County Jail.

This violent spate follows an earlier incident on June 11, when a 67-year-old man named Freddie Richard Lynem Jr. was fatally stabbed in Lexington. A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with that case, facing charges of murder, first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence, and receiving stolen property under $500. The teenager is currently being housed in a juvenile detention center. All individuals involved in the Lynem case have been identified, and investigators state that there are no outstanding suspects.

The Fayette County Coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Lynem’s death, which police reported occurred after he was stabbed and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Following the incident, two male suspects fled the scene, described as being in their late teens to early twenties. One suspect was last seen wearing black pants and a white t-shirt, while the other wore black clothing with white shoes. In response to the ongoing investigation, Newtown Pike was temporarily shut down but has since reopened to traffic.

Additionally, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with Lynem’s funeral expenses, as the community mourns this tragic loss. Police are urging the public to come forward with any information or security footage that may assist in the investigations related to all stabbings, encouraging anonymous tips to be directed to the Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

The recent spate of violence in both Lexington and Albany has raised concerns among residents and law enforcement officials alike, emphasizing the need for community vigilance and cooperation in preventing further incidents.
