News Summary

The body of 16-year-old Ali Haider Naqvi was recovered in Harrison County, while efforts continue to locate his friend, Aoun Ismail Basboos, who is considered missing and in danger. Both teens were last seen after a shots-fired incident. Authorities urge the public to assist in the search, as two individuals are charged in connection to the case. The community remains hopeful for Basboos’s safe return amidst this tragic situation.

Lexington, Kentucky – The body of 16-year-old Ali Haider Naqvi was recovered on Saturday night in a remote area of Harrison County, approximately 20 miles northeast of downtown Lexington. Authorities confirmed the discovery at the 1400 block of Russell Cave Road. Naqvi, along with his friend, 15-year-old Aoun Ismail Basboos, had been reported missing on May 11, 2025, and an ongoing search for Basboos is still a priority for local law enforcement.

Both teenagers were last seen entering the back seat of a white 2020 Acura ILX shortly after a shots-fired incident occurred on Spangler Drive in Lexington. The Acura was located at Loradale Market on Russell Cave Road in Fayette County on May 15, a few days following their disappearance. The circumstances surrounding their last known whereabouts have raised serious concerns for Basboos’s safety, with police believing he is in imminent danger.

Authorities have described Basboos as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds. He has a visible scar on his right arm and was last seen wearing a red jacket. Search efforts have been expanded as law enforcement agencies, including the Lexington Police Department, the FBI, Kentucky State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations, are actively working on the case. The public has been urged to assist in the search, with authorities encouraging anyone who has information regarding Basboos’s location to contact them. The police can be reached at (859) 258-3600, while anonymous tips may be submitted through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

In connection with the investigation, two individuals have been charged with tampering with physical evidence linked to the case. The individuals, identified as 47-year-old Jesus Eduardo Reyes-Rodriguez and a juvenile aged 17, face charges related to the vehicle that the teens were reported to have entered before their disappearance. Details regarding their involvement and the nature of the tampering have not been publicly disclosed, as investigators continue to piece together information surrounding the case.

The tragic discovery of Ali Naqvi’s body has added urgency to the search for Aoun Basboos, prompting heightened efforts from law enforcement agencies and community members alike. The local community remains on alert, hoping for the safe return of Basboos while grappling with the shocking turn of events that have unfolded over the past week.

The investigation continues as the Lexington Police Department seeks answers and closure for both families involved in this distressing situation. Detectives are exploring all leads while collaborating with federal and state agencies to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation.

Anyone with potential leads is reminded that they can report their findings anonymously and that all information is crucial in the ongoing search for Aoun Basboos. As the situation develops, authorities remain vocal about the importance of public engagement to resolve the case and bring the missing teenager home safely.

As the community reflects on this profound loss while holding onto hope for improved outcomes, the authorities vow to maintain the search efforts until Aoun Basboos is found.
