Lexington – A tragic collision late Friday night claimed the life of a 21-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Landon Thomas Carter, from Bedford. The Fayette County coroner’s office reported that Carter was pronounced dead at the intersection of East Short Street and North Limestone around 11:48 p.m. following a severe crash involving a pickup truck.

The incident occurred just before the pronouncement of death, with authorities receiving reports of the collision at 10:57 p.m.. Preliminary investigations revealed that Carter was operating his motorcycle on High Street when he allegedly ran a traffic light, entering the intersection at a high rate of speed. His motorcycle subsequently collided with a pickup truck that was passing through North Limestone.

The coroner’s report indicated that Carter’s cause of death was due to multiple blunt force trauma sustained during the accident. In the wake of the crash, Lexington Police conducted an investigation, resulting in the closure of the area overnight to collect evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

At this time, the condition of the pickup truck driver at the time of the incident has not been disclosed by law enforcement officials. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing as police continue to gather details.

Landon Carter was a resident of Bedford, a small community located in Trimble County, east of Louisville. This incident marks a somber moment for the local community, as residents come to terms with the loss of a young life in such a tragic manner.

The news of the crash and Carter’s subsequent death was initially reported on May 26, 2025, highlighting the inherent dangers associated with high-speed motorcycle riding and the need for greater traffic safety awareness.

As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision, they urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry.

As communities grapple with the ramifications of such accidents, it serves as a stark reminder for motorcyclists to adhere to traffic regulations and exercise caution while on the road.
