Residents of Lexington will have a new grocery shopping option as Publix prepares to open its second store in the city on June 4, 2025. This new location will be situated at 3855 Fountain Blue Lane in the Fountains of Palomar shopping center. The grand opening will commence at 7 a.m. with a ceremonial ribbon cutting to mark the occasion.
Customers can look forward to enjoying a selection of Publix’s well-known offerings, such as their iconic Pub Subs. The new store will span 55,701 square feet, making it larger than the first Publix in Lexington, which opened on March 5, 2025, at Citation Point. Despite both locations having 16 aisles, the Palomar store will feature expanded deli and bakery sections, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
One of the standout features of the new Publix is the Pours café, which will serve 13 types of beer on tap, coffee, tea, smoothies, and acai bowls. The café will offer customer seating with Wi-Fi access, making it an attractive space for shoppers seeking a comfortable environment. An upstairs area will also be available for additional seating.
Food lovers will appreciate the burrito bar, allowing customers to customize their orders of burritos, nachos, and bowls with a variety of toppings. In addition to this, the store will provide made-to-order whole pizzas, self-service pizza slices, made-to-order pasta, and a range of appetizers. Customers can also enjoy a sushi bar, soup bar, hot bar, salad bar, and grab-and-go pre-packaged options, including freshly popped premium popcorn available in a selection of flavors.
The new Publix will also house a pharmacy with a drive-thru for added convenience. Additionally, customers will find a meat department offering custom-cut meats, alongside fresh seafood, produce, and a floral department.
For those looking to purchase alcohol, a 3,200-square-foot Publix Liquors will be located at 3825 Fountain Blue Lane. This facility will operate separately and will be open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Publix is committed to hiring approximately 140 new employees for the Palomar location, contributing to the local economy. The first Publix store in Lexington has been well received, with the company noted for its dedication to quality and customer service.
With a total of 1,392 stores across the Southeastern United States, Publix holds the title of the largest employee-owned company in the country. For the past 27 years, Publix has been acknowledged by Fortune as a great workplace, a testament to its employee-focused culture.
The new Publix at Fountains of Palomar promises to bring a variety of shopping options that cater to the needs of Lexington residents. With its planned opening just around the corner, shoppers can anticipate an enhanced grocery experience in the heart of the community.
