Two Students in Kentucky Face Serious Charges Following Disturbing Dormitory Incident

A shocking incident unfolded at the University of Kentucky, where two 18-year-old students, Angus Thompson and Addison Adkins, have been arrested after a reported attack in a dormitory. The chilling allegations have sent waves through the campus community and sparked conversations around safety and support for victims of sexual violence.

The Incident

The alleged attack took place on February 18, 2025, in Ball Hall, one of the residence halls on campus, and involved a series of startling accusations. The victim reached out to UK police on February 22, 2025, four days after the incident, detailing a night that escalated into horror.

According to the reports, during the assault, Thompson is accused of raping the victim while Adkins allegedly applied pressure to her neck, causing noticeable bruising and injuries. These details, highlighted in court documents, paint a grim picture of the alleged events that left the victim traumatized.

The Arrests

In a swift response, the University of Kentucky police launched an investigation, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for both suspects shortly after the report. Both Thompson and Adkins surrendered to the Lexington Police Department on March 3, 2025. Following their arrests, they were placed on a hefty $25,000 bond at the Fayette County Detention Center.

While Adkins has since posted bond and has been released, it’s notable that he is no longer enrolled at the university. Meanwhile, Thompson remains behind bars, facing serious charges of first-degree rape and second-degree strangulation.

University Response

In light of these events, the University of Kentucky has reiterated its stance against sexual violence. The university emphasized that such incidents are completely unacceptable and run contrary to the values that the community holds dear. As a precautionary measure, both students have been suspended from the university and banned from campus while a Title IX investigation is conducted.

Additionally, a court order has been issued, prohibiting any contact between the two suspects, the victim, or each other. This decisive action reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students.

Moving Forward

As the case progresses, affected students have been encouraged to reach out for support. The university is actively promoting resources through the Violence Intervention and Prevention Center, ensuring that those impacted by sexual assault have access to the help they need during this difficult time.

Looking ahead, both suspects are due back in court on April 17, 2025. The legal proceedings will determine the future for Thompson and Adkins as they face the serious consequences of their alleged actions.

The incident has sparked a crucial dialogue about safety, consent, and the importance of supporting victims of sexual violence within university settings. As the campus community processes these events, it serves as a reminder of the responsibility we all share in fostering a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

This situation has underscored the need for vigilance and awareness, reminding students, staff, and faculty alike that standing up against violence and supporting one another is paramount to creating a healthy campus culture.
