This shiny new taproom occupies a 2,500-square-foot space that was once home to the ax-throwing venue, Flying Axes, which closed back in June 2024. No more dodging axes! Instead, guests are invited to unwind and enjoy a great selection of brews right below the trendy cocktail lounge, Second Story.

Why Covington?

West Sixth Brewing, which has been crafting delicious beers out of Lexington for years, saw an opportunity to expand into the Covington market. The brewery had previously operated a smaller location at Newport on the Levee, but that has now been phased out to make way for this spacious new taproom. Back in July 2023, the expansion was first announced, and fans have been anxiously waiting to check out what the Covington Haus has to offer.

At the Covington Haus, guests can look forward to over 20 beers on tap—which means plenty of options to enjoy for both the casual drinker and the craft beer aficionado. In addition to the impressive beer selection, the Covington Haus will feature an in-house restaurant, though the culinary details like the full menu have yet to be revealed. Beer and food? The name “Cov Haus” is a little piece of history, paying homage to a beloved restaurant and bar that operated in the same location during the 1970s and 1980s.
